This month I set out on a creative challenge to help raise funds for Nepal’s relief work by World Vision Australia. Do something creative I thought. A poem or photo each day I thought. But whaddyaknow I’ve painted…and painted…and painted some more.
Each day I’ve enjoyed getting back to the thing I love. I’ve been using acrylics, canvas paper and some charcoal. My laundry is getting further and further behind and I’ve had less sleep this month. This has been all about Nepal and raising funds and awareness for my campaign, but the unexpected benefit is that I’ve rediscovered what makes me feel alive. My art books are being used again and I’m spending money on art supplies instead of the movies. I might still have a way to go… but the daily exercise of painting is paying off and I’m loving it.
A huge thanks to those of you who have donated to help raise over $850 so far. And guess what? Those of you in Australia who have donated over $20 to my Everyday Hero page are going to be in the running to win one of my paintings! If you have donated over $70 you’ll also be in the running to receive one of my paintings AND an hour of my consulting time to help make your creative and business goals go far.
I haven’t decided which paintings I will give away, sell or keep…but they are almost all over A3 size on quality canvas paper, unframed. The above gives you an idea of some I’ve made this month.
So what are you waiting for? There’s still time to donate and it’s tax deductible too! I have five more paintings to create between now and the end of June. I’ll also invite you to a little get together to celebrate in Warrandyte late July 2015, where my pictures will be on display for a few short hours – some will be sold with donations going to WVA’s work in Nepal, and the names of two winners will be drawn from a hat. I’ll be sharing more details, venue and date here next week. Exciting!
Thanks to my friends who have given me such a boost of friendship, encouragement and support this month. And for those of you who have donated… you are making a huge difference to the lives of people who need it most. Thanks so much!
