I hear it’s World Poetry Day today (okay, maybe not be in my time zone, but hey, I’ll roll with it!) …”a chance to celebrate the unique ability of poetry to capture the creative spirit of the human mind.”
Here are a few of my recent attempts – Instapoems I created based on a photo and moment in time – which I’ve been meaning to add here for quite a while.
Through tea tree clatter
Bark and trunk chatter
A secret path
Nestled in suburbia
Devoid of commotion
Eager steps down sloping sand
Shuffle round the outer rim
Glancing right, catching breath
running past, through endless bends
She turns around and breathes again
Delicious sweet roses, red, vibrant and bright
Yet here you are petal, soul bared black and white
As fun as words can be, it’s not always so easy to get the words “just right” when creating a poem BUT I do love reading poetry, don’t you?
