A creative upbringing
When my mother was a young girl, she would occasionally walk through the apple orchard until reached the property of her neighbour and acclaimed Australian artist Sir Hans Heysen, and secretly watch him as he sketched the landscape near Hahndorf. She later became a beloved art teacher and eccentric cabaret pianist; the walls of our humble home were always covered with expressive, colourful oil paintings, and so creating became second nature to me. I still get inspired when I visit her.
Over the last 20 years I’ve had to pace my painting while raising three sons and working part time, however this year I have taken a sabbatical to spend more time focusing on artistic pursuits again. I paint and draw from my kitchen in the ‘burbs of Melbourne Australia, and at our creative retreat on Phillip Island, which is also available to hire.
I love to learn, and I’m always updating my creative skills, teaching myself through practice and immersing myself in the world of art. and have been commissioned for publication in Melbourne based journals, magazines, and by businesses and individuals.
