I love it when art arrives in the mail. Like today (which has become yesterday since I spent that day celebrating.)
Although I was so excited to see it next to the door when I arrived home, it still was a bit surprising and odd opening up the envelope to discover a picture of….well, me. It doesn’t look like me, exactly. But as mum said “it definitely captures an essence of you”.
It’s gotta be said that personal artwork makes a wonderful present. The fact that my mum drew it despite her poor health makes it even more special.
If you could get some artwork in the mail, what would you hope for?
This is my Day 15 entry for NaBloPoMo on the September theme of Art.
Oh it’s lovely! And I recognise ‘you’ from the image top right on the blog :-)
Just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying this series, plus, again, happy birthday x
Thanks Joanna. Yes, she drew that portrait (in the header) four or five years ago. Glad you’re enjoying the series. Writing about art has made me want to paint again. Ah maybe more on that in the next post ;-)
